Park of Diaspora ; Unearthing the future, opening the vistas for collective memories

Incheon is a city where the first immigrant ship had departed since the opening of Jemulpo Port, and the diaspora-like appearance of life has accumulated due to the industrialization of domestic and foreign workers. The city aims to combine its cultural diversity with the theme of diaspora and incorporate it into the museum and the art museum. We use a metaphor of diaspora to create an open platform where memories of place will continue to flow in and accumulate, and the legacy of modern history on the site coexists and renews their identity. Park of diapora provides a unique experience of new identity discovered by traces of history remaining on the site and the scattered places with various origins and sceneries.

Sculpting the Park with Museum I Creating the Landscape Connecting the Past, Present, and Future

The horizonral and vertical topography of the land is reshaped to preserve and utilize the historical legacies of the site. The program is organized in a two-sided manner, intaglio (art museum), and embossed (museum), distributed and integrated, creating a potential void-landscape for the museum park. Through this arrangement, the museum park focuses on securing a “recognizable distance'“ and generating a spatial path to the museum’s history, art contents, while also becoming contents as it is.
